My 10 Daily Wellness Non-Negotiables
The things I do, practice and eat almost every single day to feel my best.
I was reading a newsletter early last week from one of my favorite people in the food/wellness space, Pamela Salzman, and she mentioned how she considers her daily exercise to be “non-negotiable”. My initial reaction was, “Wow, I wish daily exercise was a non-negotiable for me.” I then quickly realized how absurd that thought was, since I’m fully capable of prioritizing a little exercise most days, but just haven’t in a long while. I committed in that moment to be more like Pamela, and make time for movement in earnest. I know how important it is for me to thrive mentally and physically, and so I’m treating it like an essential part of my day. My goals are small - 15 minutes of walking, at a bare minimum, but aiming for 30 or more. I have to say, I’m already feeling the benefits - my energy is improved, my depression and anxiety are alleviated and I just feel…better. It’s amazing what a small shift in habits can make when we set our minds to it.
While re-prioritizing exercise is a recent addition to my wellness routine, there are other things I’ve been doing for a long time and I consider them my OG non-negotiables. Without them, I start to feel out of balance pretty quickly. These are the long-term wellness habits that I’ve come to rely on to feel energetic, healthy and emotionally balanced.
