Hello, hello! How’s everyone doing? This week has been a fun and busy one for me - I just came home from a quick 24 hours in NYC and feeling inspired and totally exhausted. This weekend, we have a few family events lined up and then a few blissful days of NOTHING ON THE CALENDAR before the craziness picks up again.
This entire month for me has been a blur of activities, pool days and travel; so fun, but man, who knew summer required so much stamina! I am typically out of the house from morning ‘til late afternoon with my crew, so I’ve had to be diligent about packing snacks before we leave, otherwise the kids get hangry and miserable within a few hours. While it’s nearly impossible (or at minimum, incredibly inconvenient) to avoid processed snacks entirely, I try hard to rely mostly on whole foods to keep everyone properly fueled between meals.
Choosing the right snacks is incredibly important when it comes to balancing blood sugar and feeling satiated throughout the day. When possible, I try to make sure to get in a mix of fiber and protein, and minimize added sugar; this is my best defense against the dreaded mid-afternoon energy crash, which can derail even the best of summer days.
