First, I want to thank you all for your patience and care as I navigate some previously-alluded-to choppy personal waters. I love this newsletter and the Plant Magic community that I’ve been building over the years, but I’m still figuring out how to consistently show up for you every week when my life is otherwise feeling…hard. I’ll go more into detail when the time is right; for now, I’m not really ready to disclose much, as it all feels a bit too raw and things are changing in real time. The last few months have been emotionally exhausting, frightening and overall shitty. There’s no immediate relief in sight, unfortunately, so I’m doing my best to maintain a sense of normalcy (both personally and professionally) while also honoring my emotional and physical needs. Not an easy task, it turns out. BUT! It brings me so much joy and purpose to write this newsletter, so stay with me!
In case you are wondering or concerned, I will say that I am personally in good health, with no current evidence of cancer, so I’m very grateful for that. I’m chugging along, and actually taking pretty good care of myself, which feels like a big win. I’m cooking and eating healthy whole plant foods, getting to bed early most nights, meditating regularly, exercising daily and writing daily gratitude lists for the things that are going well in my life. It’s definitely helping; I feel like I’m a sturdier human being and mother when I show up for myself during these tough times.
Speaking of self-care…that brings me to today’s newsletter! A year and a half ago, I wrote about my morning routine, jumping on a bit of a trendy bandwagon, not expecting much of a response - to my surprise, it was a really popular post! I love my early morning routine; I consider it to be the most sacred part of my day. My evening routine is increasingly important to me, too. It’s become very apparent that how I choose to spend the last few hours of my day has a massive impact on my sleep quality and overall mood/energy levels the following day.
